What? Did she really just combine all of our favorite sports bar foods into a dinner? I sure did. And I don’t care if it is winter, I’m totally going to start grilling up some burgers next. BOOM. Hashtag sorrynotsorry. Ha!  Ok, there are important things to talk about today so let’s get right into this bacon honey mustard pretzel chicken.

I’m pretty sure that anything that’s good as a savory snack is probably good on chicken. Cheese and bacon? Yup, Jack chicken with bacon. Salsa? Why yes, yes we do make slow cooker salsa chickenI could go on and on, but I’ll spare you from my ramblings.

Oh, no actually I have another rambling. You thought you might escape didn’t you. So, there’s something about comfort food and laughter that just belongs together. Don’t you think? We love a good laugh and there is something so hilarious about Jimmy Fallon that whenever he’s on I cannot help but listen in. Cade recently introduced me to “Tight Pants“. Oh my golly! It’s so funny and will totally be stuck in your head forever. I hate that they have to take it to an angry place at the end as foul language is totally lame in my opinion. I think great people don’t need it to be funny or express themselves, but that’s beside the point. In the end, “I got my tight pants on” and Cade is busting a move to it as we speak. Oh good heavens it’s awesome. Even our 4 year old sings it even though she’s never seen it.

Are Chicken Breasts Healthier Than Thighs?

Both skinnless chicken breasts and skinnless chicken thighs are a good source of lean protein.

Chicken thighs are a little higher in calories than chicken breasts.

The biggest difference between breasts and thighs is the amount of fat.

Chicken thighs contain about 3 times as much fat as breasts.


Can You Grill Chicken In The Oven?

Technically, chicken is not grilled, but it is roasted in the oven.

Roasting chicken pieces correctly gives pretty much the same results as grilling.

Heat your oven to 400 degrees.

Rub the chicken pieces with a little olive oil and place on a broiler pan.

Cook for about 10 minutes, then flip the chicken over and cook for about 15 minutes longer.


Are Pretzels Gluten Free?

Most pretzels are made with wheat flour, therefore, they are not gluten free.

But, there are many brands of gluten free pretzels available in most grocery stores.

Just check for pretzels that are labeled “gluten free”.

Bacon Honey Mustard Pretzel Chicken

  • 2 Chicken breasts butterflied *see note


  • 1 Cup Original Pretzel Crisps
  • 1/2 cup bacon cooked and diced

Honey Mustard

  • 1 Cup Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/8 cup mustard


  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spray an 8x9" baking dish with nonstick spray.
  • In a small ziploc bag, crush the pretzels into "bread" crumbs.
  • Place into a small dish and toss with the bacon.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the mayonnaise, honey and mustard.
  • Place the chicken in the baking dish and spread a spoonful of honey mustard on top.
  • Sprinkle with the pretzel mixture and bake for 15 minutes tented with foil.
  • Remove the foil and bake an additional 15 minutes..
  • Let rest 5 minutes and serve.

  2. I tried this today, it was amazing. When I read the recipe I was a bit nervous to try it, but now I’m pretty sure I will make this at least once a month.

  3. Wearing our fat pants too because when I/we made this tonight we used chicken tenders, coated both sides, breaded both sides and cooked on a rack. Was delicious. All I had in the house was the sesame pretzel crisps and those worked out fabulous — give them a whirl!

    On a side note, a question and an observation:
    What was the pound amount for your butterflied breasts? I had a pound of chicken tenders and we had quite a bit of leftover mayo mix. WHEN I make this again — and I most certainly will — I will definitely pare back the amounts of that mixture…..
