Candy Cane Oreos
Oh Christmas candy, oh Christmas candy… It may not be the original song, but it’s an even better one in my book. We grew up making Christmas treats and candies all winter break with my mom and now that I’m the grown up, or at least I’m supposed to be, I think it’s important to carry on the the tradition. These candy cane oreos may not be the milk chocolate or white chocolate dipped ones I grew up with but they are even better!

Some of my first memories involve the holidays. My mom always made peanut butter white chocolate ritz, chocolate pizza, and peanut butter balls and us kids always got to help. She is seriously a saint for how incredibly patient she was. I don’t remember her ever getting mad at us in the kitchen. She carefully taught us and we listened because we felt so grown up to be in there with her.
This is the easiest part about your holiday goodie plates and it’s all thanks to my mom. Yes, you can buy chocolate covered oreos these days, but ours are cheaper and more unique. We start with 1 1/2 bags of Candy Cane Hershey’s Kisses. Unwrap them all or have your minions, aka the kids do it. Then stick them in a microwave safe bowl for 20 second intervals, stirring between, until totally melted. Next, dip your oreos, flip over and lift using a fork so the chocolate can drip off. Place on parchment and wait for them to dry. Or don’t. It will be a chocolatey mess, but it’s kind of delicious eating them before they’ve dried.
How Long Will Oreos Keep?
Oreos will last at least 2-3 weeks past their “best by” date.
Even, stale oreos are not a health risk, they just don’t taste as good.
How Long Will Hershey Kisses Keep?
Hershey Kisses have a shelf life of about 1 year.
Hershey kisses may be frozen for up to 18 months.
