Did you know that there are easy substitutes for alcohol if you don’t want to cook with an alcoholic beverage? We always substitute our alcohol so I have become really familiar with them.
~ You can always use a cooking wine, but be forewarned that most chefs would cringe with those because they are supposedly so different. However, I use them anyway if I don’t have a sub on hand or if I want to. ha!
Here are just a few substitutes~
Red Wine~ Cooking red wine, beef or chicken broth or stock, diluted red wine vinegar, or tomato juice.
Sherry~ Orange or Pineapple Juice (I usually do orange)
White Wine~ Chicken broth or stock, diluted white wine vinegar or cider vinegar, white grape juice with diluted white wine vinegar. When making a marinade substitute 1/4 white wine vinegar, 1 tb sugar and 1/4 cup water
Ok, that’s good for now. We can do more another day.

I often sub cooking wine in recipes – if using cooking wine, use less than the prescribed amount, or cut the amount of salt in the recipe because cooking wines usually have added sodium.
I've never tried juice as a sub. Great tips Carrian!

Good question, I have only done that one once. Let's say I needed 1 cup, I made a little more than 3/4 cup the juice and the rest the diluted vinegar. Sorry, I don't remember where I read it and how to get the exact proportions

white wine: what proportions do you mix of the grape juice & vinegar?
