How to substitute dried herbs for fresh

Did you know that there is an easy conversion for using dried herbs vs fresh? I sometimes forget so I try to remind myself that dry herbs have shrunk down and usually been chopped, so there is more that fits into a measuring spoon, therefore the dried is stronger so I need to use less in place of fresh. Does that make sense? Basically the dried is stronger than the fresh so use less.

The rule of thumb when you have no choice but to use dried herbs is: use one teaspoon of dried for each 3 teaspoons of fresh.
