Ok, on Sunday I posted an amazing creamed corn recipe that we’ve all fallen head over heals in love with and I promised that something totally bomb diggity (so what if I still use that phrase?) was coming to the blog and here it is, ham sandwich and corn chowder recipe. I know, it’s not soup on top, but it’s like a chowder with all that cream. Ugh!! I know, it doesn’t even look like anything cool and so I just know we are going to have a few people out there that are totally convinced it’s lame-o, but trust me, you’re wrong.com. Oh crap! All of these phrases just flow out of me. I guess it’s the whole turning 30 last week thing. Maybe I’m just having flashbacks to high school because I can’t believe how fast time has flown by.
Seriously, I feel like it was just yesterday that I got my first ever Nokia phone WITH changeable face plates. That’s right, I had a blue AND a silver faceplate that I could change whenever I wanted. Boo-yah baby. I even did a little #tbt action on instagram (@ohsweetbasil) last week just to show a little love to the old days. Man, I miss how much easier technology used to be. I know you’re going to think I’m crazy, but sometimes I get tired of all of this “newest” and “latest” business. No one can keep up and it’s hard to really have any down time when everything is screaming at you to stay busy and stay connected.
In fact, sometimes I purposefully forget my phone at home just so no one can text or call me. I just want to do my own thing without any distractions. It used to be hard and I’ve even turned the car around to get my phone when I forgot it, but that was the past. Now I’m like, “FREEEEEEDOM!” But let’s not get crazy, don’t take away the internet. Gosh, I can’t imagine actually having to look things up in a book or use a map to get directions. In fact, if I had to use a map I’d probably just stay home. But a little more simplicity would be nice. Next up I’d like us to take a family vacation that’s all about getting out doors and relaxing without any interruptions. I’m thinking camping. Cade’s going to say hotel, but maybe I’ll just tie him up in the car and force him. In the meantime I’ll butter him up with his favorite sandwich, soft french bread, honey baked ham, and creamy corn all over the top.
