We are so excited to announce that Sarah, {our cute friend whose family photo is in the sidebar) is going to be doing some awesome guest posts on here. Make sure you check out her personal blog as they are trying to adopt and we’ve learned that adoption most often comes by word of mouth. So please, take note that this cute family needs your help and then get on with these killer Nutella Bars!
So Nutella seems to be kind of a craze lately—a craze that I support 100%. There is something about taking a healthy nut adding chocolate and making it creamy so that you can put it in and on everything. This Nutella Bars dessert does just that—a little bit of Nutella in the bar and a little bit on it.
The recipe first came from my baker of a sister—when she is in town she is the official dessert maker for family gatherings. We all love the classic peanut butter bars recipe, but she thought it would be fun to try a little something different by replacing the peanut butter with Nutella.
Who knew that such a simple change could create something so wonderful? Dave and I always comment about the “depth of flavor” that brings pure joy to our mouths. The Nutella, the oats, the frosting…the Nutella. Mmmmmm.
This recipe makes a thinner bar with a sufficient amount of icing. Double the bar recipe for a thicker bar, double the frosting recipe for more frosting, times ingredients by 6 to make in a 15 x 17 cookie sheet. Add a strawberry to the side…endless possibilities for you to enjoy this delicious dessert! Just make sure not to over cook!
What is Nutella?
Nutella is a chocolate spread made from palm oil, hazelnuts, and cocoa, among other ingredients.
How Long Will Nutella Keep?
It is recommended that Nutella be eaten withing 2 months after the “best by” date.
Does Nutella Need to be Refrigerated?
Nutella should NOT be refrigerated, refrigeration will make it hard and unusable.
Nutrella should be tightly closed and kept in a cool dry place like the pantry.

These were incredible! I was skeptical that they’d bake in just 10 minutes but they did! The frosting was amazing and I had to resist the urge to eat the whole bowl before the bars cooled enough to frost them. Other Nutella recipes I’ve tried call for added cocoa powder or some other form of chocolate which just ends ups taking away from the rich Nutella flavor but these are all Nutella and they’re perfect. I’ll be making these again and again. Easy and delicious.

Love to hear this Lucy! Thank you! And I totally understand about wanting to eat the whole bowl of frosting! Been there!

The baking time is 10 mins? I can’t imagine it can back in 10mins

I am baking them right now and I believe either the temp 325* is too low or the amount of time is incorrect. After 10 at 325* they are still raw.

Wanted to make these delicious looking bars today! Just checking – is it 2-3 tspns. or tablespoons milk in the Frosting? Thanks very much!
