Recovery is Necessary Post Workout

*this is a sponsored post, and I have been compensated from Redmond, but all thoughts and opinions remain my own.

One thing that we both are pretty adamant about concerning workouts is recovery. I’ve teamed up with Redmond to talk about why we use their Redmond bath salts. (This is a sponsored post, but we chose this specific product and idea based on what we already wanted to talk about. All opinions are our own)

I’ll never forget training a guy who insisted on working out 7 days a week, never stretched, and would often do full body workouts every day. No matter what I told him he was convinced that the harder you go the better your body will be. FALSE. It’s just plain false. Recovery is necessary post workout.

I understand that not everyone is going to be perfect about stretching out post workout (yes, even arm workouts should still include post stretching and cool down. For real), and we can talk about stretching another time, but everyone should have a cool down and recovery period. In other words you need time to let your muscles fire, strengthen and grow. Bringing your heart rate back down after a workout helps you avoid blood pooling, and promotes proper circulation of the blood, while increasing blood lactic acid removal (which is one of the causes muscle soreness). The recovery period allows your body to repair the micro tears that occur from strength training, and other strenuous exercises, which is essential for muscle development and performance.

One way that we let our bodies heal and rejuvinate is through Bath Salts, but not just any, Redmond Bath Salts. It’s the perfect way to allow your body to relax, repair, and rest, plus it’s a method that has extra benefits compared to just a regular hot shower or bath. We love that it also soothes our muscles so we aren’t so sore the next day, plus our body is also absorbing additional minerals!  Here’s what Redmond has to say…

Prehistoric Bath Salts that pull out Toxins

“Redmond Bath Salt is a natural mineral sea salt that comes from a sea bed dating back thousands of years. This prehistoric deposit has been tucked away, protected from modern-day pollution. We extract this salt from deep within the earth, and bring it to you in its pure, natural state–without any additives, chemicals, or heat processing. The result is an all natural sea salt, rich in trace minerals.

In Redmond Bath Salt you will find an abundance of trace minerals that can help restore mineral-deficient bodies back to good health. Through osmosis, toxins are released from the body into the bath water, while trace minerals from the sea salt are absorbed through the skin.”

How awesome is that? Redmond Bath Salts have more than 60  naturally-occurring trace minerals such as, calcium, potassium, sulphur, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, iodine, manganese, copper, and zinc. All of those minerals are getting absorbed through your skin while you bath which means that yes, your muscles and mind are relaxing and rejuvenating, but you’re also adding back in important minerals. I love killing two birds with one stone.

You can use the bath salts to rid yourself of stress, detox the body, help you to sleep better, soothe aching joints and muscles, absorb important minerals. We like to add 2 cups of salts to a hot bath and occasionally a drop or two of a favorite essential oil.

You can purchase your own Bath Salts online, and it’s more than worth it.

  1. I love bath salts! They are the best!! You and your hubs are adorable at that gym 😀

  2. I agree – post workout recovery and proper care of your body during exercise is so important. It always amazes me when people think its a waste. Only one time of a bad side effect (aka torn muscle) and you’ll get it. Sad it takes people up to the point of injury to realize it!
