Looking for something a little different?! This sonoran hot dog is delicious. Next time I’ll load up on more guac, fatter hot dogs and really just pile everything on there. Oh, and make a good pico de gallo, it brightened the whole entire dish up. So let’s break it down.
What is Pico de Gallo?
Pico de gallo, referred to as salsa fresco, is a type of salsa. It’s a fresh, uncooked mixture of chopped tomatoes and onions, cilantro, fresh chiles, lime juice, and salt.
While traditional salsa has a thinner consistency with more liquid, pico de gallo is chunky, with each chopped ingredient distinctly visible
I first had this hot dog at a little hot dog stand and I’ve been totally sold on it ever since. It’s like the best of everything all piled on top of a hot, juicy hot dog. Definitely not your ordinary dog and this big guy will certainly be a winner at any party you decide to throw. Plus, it’s super easy and your guests can technically choose to build it any ol’ way they want to. Clearly the Sonoran Dog way is the best, but feel free to change things up a little.
Ok, so a sonoran has a juicy hot dog, pinto beans, cheese sauce (or cheese but I’ve only had it with sauce so I had to copycat it), guacamole, bacon, pico de gallo and cilantro cream or sour cream. Yeah she’s loaded! I know, it’s craziness but it is so darn good!

I hate to be *that* guy, but I’m from Phoenix AZ and went to University in Tucson (where these little beauties were born) and I think the original way to incorporate the bacon is to wrap it around the dog!! Somehow it just makes it better!! Although I’m not sure how to make it that way, I guess I’d probably just throw it in the oven. You should try it sometime! The recipe is lovely either way thank you for representing!! ❤️ Huge fan if your blog, just a first time commenter.

Thank you so much Kimberly! I love the sound of a bacon-wrapped hotdog! I’ll definitely be trying that! Thanks for taking time to leave us a comment!

I just moved to Tucson recently and I see these on the menu at practically every restaurant I go to! I haven’t tried one yet, so maybe I will make homemade ones this weekend!

Oh man! I wish I was down there. We had a place here that sold them and they went out of business.

Woah. Now you're talking. I'm typically a Chicago dog kinda gal, but you could get me on board with this!

You're not going to believe this – I'm from Tucson, Arizona – capital of Sonoran cuisine – but had never had a Sonoran dog until a few weeks ago when I went to Tucson to visit my mom and had one from a food truck. Yours looks like a DElish version!

I have seen so many dressed up dogs lately — what a come back the lowly hotdog has made. This looks so yummy — the guacamole sounds good on it. Joni
