This Creamy Marionberry syrup is sure to delight every mother on Mother's Day or any other day. You can use blackberries too!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Butter or, 1 stick, unsalted
  • 1 Cup Whole Milk
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 Cup Marionberries Frozen
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, add the butter, milk, sugar, salt and berries.
  • Heat to a boil, occasionally stirring and smashing the berries.
  • Add the vanilla and stir to combine.
  • Remove from the heat and quickly add the baking soda.
  • The syrup will foam up, but continue to stir and place on the heat for 30 seconds. If it begins to foam up too much, remove from heat immediately.
  • Serve with pancakes, waffles or french toast.

Notes

A large pot is necessary to contain the syrup after adding the baking soda.
