This beautiful, quick and easy Old FashionedCherry CrispRecipe with an oatmeal topping is loaded with saucy sweet cherries. Our cherry crisp is perfectly sweet and tart with a secret ingredient to make it extra special.
Cook the cherries in a saucepan over medium heat until simmering.
4 Cups Pitted Sour Cherries
In a small bowl, stir together the cornstarch, sugar and extracts, and then once the cherries are simmering, pour the cornstarch/sugar mixture in and stir until bubbling and thick and removed from the heat.
1/4 Cup Cornstarch, 1 Cup Sugar, 1 teaspoon Vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon Almond Extract
Pour into an 8" pie plate or an 8x8" baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, oats, sugar, salt and cinnamon and mix to combine thoroughly.
1/3 Cup Flour, 1 Cups Rolled Oats, 1/2 Cups Brown Sugar, 1/4 teaspoon Salt, 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
Add the butter and using a pastry cutter, cut it into the mixture.

Then, use your hands to gently squeeze and mix the topping until it all comes together when you squeeze it in the palm of your hand. Sprinkle over the cherries.
Bake at 350℉ for 30 minutes or until golden on top.
Serve with ice cream.

You can use whatever fruit is the most fresh, and for apples and peaches you can leave out the flour.To reheat: Place in a 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes, or until hot.
