This is one of my husband’s recipes, Honey Baked Chicken. For some reason we’d been married a good 3 years before I knew it existed. So sad because it is DELICIOUS! It’s also pretty fast and easy.
Don’t be worried about the curry in it either, everything blends together and it’s so flavorful. We like to cook up some peas, corn, and any other veggie hanging out around the kitchen and eat this like a big rice bowl. Leftovers are great made into casseroles or especially in soup! W just add broth, veggies and then potatoes or rice!
Will Honey Go Bad?
Honey can be kept indefinately.
It will never go bad.
Is White Meat Healthier than Dark Meat of Chicken?
Compared with white meat, dark meat contains more iron, zinc, riboflavin, thiamine, and vitamins B6 and B12.
White meat does contain less fat and calories than dark meat, but the difference is small.

This was the very first recipe I discovered from you several years ago and we absolutely LOVE it! You hit the nail on the head with combing curry and lemon pepper. So good. This recipe is a regular for us…Thanks!
Sweet Basil
Thank you so much Trisha! And thank you for all the support!
Jennay
This was amazing. Even my picky 6 yr old liked it and that says a lot!
How could I convert this to the instant pot?
Sweet Basil
Hi Jennay, we are working on that recipe right now!

I was a little hesitant to try this recipe because I am rather afraid of curry. Everything else looked good and your description persuaded me. It was good, but I have to say that the leftovers were excellent. The spices mellowed and really infused the chicken. Next time I make this, I will do it a day or two ahead and then re-heat to serve.

This was delicious! I used the chicken seasoning you recommended. Super comfort food. I served with brown rice. Thank you!
Sweet Basil
I’m so glad to hear that! Thank you!

I have had to give the recipe to 2 more families who loved this dish!!! It’s a keeper! Shredding the chicken and putting back into the sauce makes it super moist and flavorful. 🙂
Sweet Basil
That’s the best part about this recipe, that moist chicken. Thank you so much for sharing!

I may just try this tomorrow! I’m thinking I may serve it with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli – I’ve been craving BOTH of those side dishes!
Sweet Basil
This would be so yummy with mashed potatoes! Hope you enjoy!
Monica
This was so good! I did it a little differently though. I shredded the chicken then mixed it with the sauce mixture and baked it for 20 minutes. Still really good!! 5 stars from me!
Sweet Basil
I love it like that too. Thank you for the sweet comment!

Do you think I can boil the chicken, shred then add the ingredients?
Sweet Basil
You can but you’ll still want to cook everything together so the chicken is full of flavor.
eva
Could this be made in a crockpot?
Sweet Basil
Absolutely! Just prepare as normal and stick it in a crockpot much like the slow cooker whole chicken recipe on the site.

My wife forgot to mention that I no longer bake it like the recipe says. I prefer to cook chicken and shred it. Then let it simmer in a pot on the stove with the sauce to let it soak the deliciousness.
(Hi wife, I'm actually looking at your blog. Can you believe it?)
Meredith
When preparing this way, how long do you cook chicken and how long do you allow to simmer with the sauce? Thanks!
tam
i am making this tomorrow. i totally am.
Jennifer
Nope. No onions. I think the light just hit is funny. Sometimes, to be even speedier, I will put chicken in the crock pot all day & then whip up the sauce when I get home. Don't cook it in the sauce all day though. It doesn't come out right.

This looks fabulous and easy to make. Your photo looks like it has onions in it. Does it?
Sarah
oh man. That sounds so good. Its going on my menu next week!
