Is Pasta Fattening?

Pasta itself is not fattening.

If you carefully choose the sauce or herbs that pasta is served with, pasta can be part of a healthy weight-loss diet.

However, creamy or cheesy sauces are high in fat.

How Do You Tell If Pasta Is Done?

The only way to tell if pasta is done is to taste it.

Pasta should be cooked to al dente, or firm to the taste.

The longer pasta cooks, the gooey-er it gets, so pasta that “sticks to the wall” is over cooked.

Are Scallions The Same Thing As Green Onions?

Green onions and scallions are actually the same thing!

Green onions are harvested before the bulb forms.

Description

This lemon chicken pasta dish is one of our favorites! The flavors are so fresh.

Ingredients 

For the Pasta

  • 1 lb. pasta, any type
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • lemon zest
  • lemon Juice, 1 lemon
  • ½ cup onion, green -chopped
  • ¼ cup parsley, fresh-chopped
  • salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese

For the Marinade:

  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons parsley, minced
  • 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 chicken breasts

Instructions

  • Marinate chicken in zip lock baggie for at least 3 hours. I always like to just pull my chicken out in the morning, mix it with the marinade and let it sit all day.
  • While cooking your favorite type of pasta, grill up the chicken, and then chop it up.
  • Drain pasta, add olive oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, parsley, green onion, salt and pepper, chicken and Parmesan.
  • Mix and serve!

Notes

pasta will store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days
