Our cereal bars recipe came from a Costco Cookbook many years ago and with a few changes we are still making them today! 

Making simple things like this from scratch always makes me feel like I’m providing the best for my family. If I make our food then I know exactly what goes into it and we aren’t eating a lot of fake or filler ingredients. These bars make a great high energy breakfast with a piece of fresh fruit and a tall glass of cold milk.

How Long Will Cereal Bars Keep?

Homemade cereal bars keep for about one week.

They should be stored in an air tight container.

Is It Safe To Eat Honey When Pregnant?

Yes, it’s safe to eat honey during pregnancy.

It is believed that honey is dangerous to babies because honey may contain bacteria that could make a baby sick.

But, that bacteria will not affect an adult, even a pregnant adult.

And, the bacteria will not pose a danger to an unborn baby.

Peanut butter is very high in fat, but it is healthy fat.

Peanut butter is also high in calories.

Peanut butter is also a good source of protein.

Ingredients 

Cereal Bars (abt. 12 servings)

  • 3/4 Cup Peanut Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Box Post Great Grains Cereal, Basic 4, Raisin Bran, Blueberry Morning all work as well
  • 1/3 Cup Pepitas
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries, chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Chia Seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • Maldon Flaked Salt for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare an 8×8" pan by spraying with nonstick spray then parchment and spray again.
  • Heat the honey and peanut butter until it begins to boil.
    1/2 Cup Honey
  • Remove from heat and add vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
    1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract, 3/4 Cup Peanut Butter
  • Add chia seeds, cherries and pepitas to the cereal in a very large bowl. Pour peanut butter over cereal and mix.
    1 Box Post Great Grains Cereal
  • Press firmly into prepared pan. Cool inthe refrigerator for up to 4 hours before slicing. Sprinkle Maldon Flaked Sea salt on top.
