How to Make Cherry Cheese Danish Sliders?
This recipe is a family favorite of ours! They’re such a fun breakfast for holidays. We’ve had them on Valentines, Easter, 4th of July, and Christmas mornings. Here are the step by step instructions for making these easy cherry sliders:
- Prep: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally.
- Mix: Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon juice, and egg yolk until smooth.
- Build: Melt the butter with sugar in a small bowl and spread it in a 9×13 baking dish. Add the bottom rolls, spread on the cream cheese filling, then the cherry filling, and top with the remaining rolls.
- Brush: Whisk together the egg and water and brush over the tops and sides of the rolls. Sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake: Bake for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden brown.
- Finish: Whisk together the glaze, drizzle over the warm sliders, and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
The complete instructions can also be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.

Variations and Substituions:
Want to switch things up? This recipe can easily be turned into a more traditional pastry by swapping the Hawaiian rolls for puff pastry sheets. Simply spread the filling over strips of dough, top with another sheet, seal the edges, and bake according to the package directions. Once baked, use a pizza cutter to slice into servings.
Not a cherry fan? No problem. Apple, strawberry, or any of your favorite pie fillings all work beautifully here. You can also skip the fruit entirely and lean into an almond croissant–inspired twist by adding almond frangipane and a splash of almond extract to the glaze. It’s buttery, flaky, and totally irresistible.

Make Ahead and Storage Instructions
These cherry pie sliders are perfect for prepping ahead! Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and they’ll stay fresh for up to 4-5 days. This makes them a great option for busy mornings, snack prep, or keeping on hand for unexpected sweet cravings. Just snag one out of the fridge whenever you have a hankering for a treat.
Tips for Cherry Cheese Danishes

Slice as a Sheet:
When making sliders, slice the entire pack of King’s Hawaiian rolls in half all at once using a long bread knife. Keeping them together like a single sheet makes them much easier to transfer, fill, and spread toppings evenly.
Soften the Cream Cheese:
Any time you’re baking with cream cheese, be sure it’s at room temperature. Softened cream cheese blends smoothly with other ingredients and keeps your filling creamy with zero lumps.
Don’t Skip the Egg Wash:
Brushing an egg wash over the tops of the buns helps the sliders bake up golden, slightly crisp, and beautifully shiny. It’s a small step that makes a big difference.

Cherry cheese danish sliders are a cross between cheesecake and a danish all in a delicious handheld sweet dessert sandwich. You totally have to give this recipe a try!

How to Make Dessert Sliders

Wonderful recipe! My only deviation was to use cherry preserves as I did not have canned filling nor fresh/frozen cherries to make my own. We will be making again!
Thank you so much Valerie!!
