Do Reese’s Rice Krispies Need to be Refrigerated?
Reese’s Krispies can be stored at room temperature in air tight containment (zip-top bag with no air in it), for 1 to 2 days without any ill effect. They keep longer than they last, if you get my drift. You can refrigerate them.
If you like this recipe for, Reese’s Krispies make sure you check out the MilkyWay Krispies, and Reese’s Crumble! This post is a repost from years and years ago, but seeing as how this recipe, no matter what I do remains number one on our site, I thought it would be a good idea to bring it back to life. I’ve left the original post on here, so you get to see our kids from almost 6 years ago!

Why Are My Reese’s Rice Krispie Treats Hard?
High heat is the prime culprit for rock hard rice krispie treats. → Follow this tip: It will take a few more minutes of cook time, but melt the butter and marshmallows over low heat. You’ll be rewarded with delicious, soft and chewy treats!

Who has left over Halloween candy?!
I know I do. I was trying to think up a delicious way to enjoy all of that candy other than just eating piece by piece and I came up with these. Oh! I think I forgot to even tell you about Halloween!
Ok, first of all, our sweet little one had just healed from Croup. And a bad version of it. She’s only 16 lbs so to be hit with an extremely bad strain of croup was a big deal. By Halloween it was just a bad cold, so all of the scary not breathing, or troubled breathing had thankfully ended. Two steroids is what it took and I pray it doesn’t ever happen again. Croup is quite honestly one of the worst things ever.
Anyway, last year I had wanted to dress our oldest up as Rainbow Brite, but I am sooooo glad I waited until this year. Aren’t they darling?!
Make sure you click on the video below to watch how these go down.

Ok, I know, I’m bragging. But, don’t you think everything turned out perf?! The sprite costume of “Twink” was made by Erika from, Pink Suede Shoe.
She’s amazing. That’s all. Enough Said. Check out her site. Love her. Envy her talent. Go ahead. I already do.

Are Reese’s Rice Krispies Gluten Free?
Reese’s Rice Krispies are not actually gluten-free. They contain malt and, sometimes, barley for a flavor enhancer. Besides this, they are made in a gluten-filled vicinity which makes them officially non-gluten-free.

Milky Way Rice Krispies
Milky Way candybars were my favorite as a kid so why not combine them with a fresh take on our famous reese’s krispies?

Do you put these in the fridge to cool or leave them out?
We just leave them out.
I. LOVE. THESE! Thank you so much! I followed the recipe exactly and threw in a small handful of mini marshmallows at the last minute and they are to die for! Thank you! Thank you!
oohhhh! I have to try that addition! Great idea!
Not a fan of using corn syrup.. Could marshmallow be used in place?
Can these be frozen and eaten later?
Unfortunately the cereal doesn’t hold up well in the freezer. :
Can you substitute corn syrup with honey?
You can but it doesn’t set up quite as well and you can taste the honey.
How many does this recipe make?
leftover Reeses at Halloween?? Not a chance! LOL Looks great though.
Haha, we do in fact usually buy more just to make these 😉
I know I’m overthinking this. But do you use four Reese’s peanut butter cups? Or four packages with 2 in them? Not that I think you could ever over do Reese’s.
Haha, true, you could never over do it! It’s just four cups, not four packages though I honestly think that sounds delicious.
Could you make these with just marshmallow and minus the 1st 2 ingredients and salt? (like making regular rice kripie treat but with reeces cups)
Absolutely! We love them like that!
Oh, I am making these tomorrow for sure! Yum! You know I was looking for a really good rice krispie treats recipe yesterday, and yours is the one I saved! Coincidentally, today I find this recipe to save, and right away, as a gardener, I recognized that name, Oh Sweet Basil.:)
I’m wondering, if I wanted to do bars, say in an 8×8 pan, do you think that doubling the recipe would work for that?
Thanks so much! I’m saving the these recipes to my Pinterest boards, but im adding your website page to my homescreen, so that I can explore all of the other amazing recipes that you’ve created.:))
Hello! Thank you so much for your support and enthusiasm! Just a single batch of this recipe will fit in an an 8×8 perfectly! If you want to double it, you could use a 9×13. Enjoy!
Hi, question for you.. I’m not much of a cook, but I’m attempting to make these for my son’s first birthday party! What do you mean by chopping up the Reese’s? Also, the folding over part.. You’re not supposed to smash the candy? Little help here 🙁
Sincerely, I can’t cook. LOL
Hi Maci,
Just cut the Reese’s into bite sized pieces and just carefully stir it so you still get chunks of candy. Thanks!
