We cannot stop munching on these salted caramel pretzel snaps! They only take a couple of ingredients and no time at all to make!

I have been sitting here forever trying to figure out a name for these things because they are kind of like those “turtle” chocolates people make except not because there are not nuts and the chocolate is on the bottom not a shell on top. Bites? But it’s a little more than a bite and truffles clearly wouldn’t work as they are nothing like a truffle. Snaps? I mean, they do snap when you bite them. And trust me, they are addicting little salted caramel pretzel snaps!

Our friend, Aaron gave us a try of a little salted caramel pretzel snaps treat at his house one night, but I haven’t ever seen them at the store, so I was stuck to make my own and I’m happy to say it’s the fastest recipe ever!
Quick and Easy Holiday Treat
I don’t even know if I should be calling it a recipe as there’s not really much to it. In fact, I was trying to hurry so I put two pieces of parchment out, one for me and one for our 10 year old and 6 year old. The 10 year old did the chocolate and caramel and the 6 year old placed pretzels and sprinkled salt. I chose to photograph their’s just to prove it could be done by a child.

Candy making was a whole process at my house growing up. We made gobs and gobs of candies, turtles, peanut butter balls, coconut balls, chocolate pizza, and more! It was such a fun time and I loved helping it.
Salted Caramel Pretzel Snaps

It makes me a little sad to think about how I didn’t realize just what a special opportunity it was to be surrounded by family in a safe, loving home and to just be a carefree kid. I know that it’s like that for most kids, but I regret not taking more advantage of being a family. Now we all live far apart and holidays are often spent alone because it’s too far to travel to everyone. Such a bummer. But at least we can make our treats with our own families not and keep the tradition going.

I couldn’t find any caramel other then sea salt camel baking chips is that OK to use?
****caramel not CAMEL silly phone
Hmmm, I honestly haven’t tried using those. We buy bags of caramel in the bulk candy section. Let us know if you try the chips!
Hi, these look amazing. Just want to know are the pretzels already salted? Or are they plain? Thank you
Already salted but we add a little sea salt still.
I cant wait to make for a girls weekend next month. For those who may be needing further instruction, the video is really good.
Thanks Sara. Yes, we hoped that would help out those who were confused.
Several things….. how do you melt the chocolate? How does one melt the caramel? “low and slow” on what ? the stove? in the microwave?
Melt a half bag of caramel? How big is the bag? Snack bag? regular bag? Half bag is how many pieces?
More clarity would be really helpful… I am NOT a cook… and trying these recipes are hard for me… but I like to try new things.
Is their another way to heat without paper bag?
Hi Nicole, I’m not sure what paper bag you mean
Well these just look completely delicious, will be making some with my little ones on Christmas eve, I think santa may have to be given one or two aswell 😉
Santa definitely should nibble a few. 😉
Can I make these gluten free?
Hi, just use gluten free pretzels 🙂
How easy is this!!! I’m going to make these & take to work. Everyone is bring in stuff & trying to outdo the other. LOL They will love them!!
Such a great combo of Sweet and salty. There’s a candy bar called Take 5, sold in most Dept/grocery stores, that is this item. So yummy! What a great recipe to make with the grand daughter!
Well it seems I’d better get on that!
Hey guys. I make these. But with Rolos candy. Lay the pretzel down first. Top wth a Rolo, Warm in the oven.
Wahlah! Carmel stays soft and chewey. No need to add chocolate.
Yes!!! I love those!
I do this and on Halloween I add a pecan on top and put them out in my office as “brains.”
That is supposed to be
?????
Five stars, not 2 stars. It would not allow me to put 5 stars for some reason.
What a great idea!!
