Every year we look back what the favorite recipes of the year were and this year I didn’t guess a single one! Here’s the top ten recipes for 2016!
This list has been so much fun to create. We can’t wait to hear what you’ve made and loved from the list and what you missed the first time and are now pinning for later. Remember, if you make something of ours, tag us on social media, @ohsweetbasil #ohsweetbasil! Our friends are all posting their favorites too and we are seriously going crazy pinning from their lists too. Make sure you check out Julie Blanner, and That Skinny Chick Can Bake.
Salted Caramel Pretzel Snaps
This is actually a recipe from 2014 that we reposted this year and it already flew up to our #1 recipe in just 2 weeks time. We get the hint, more chocolate, caramel and salt coming your way soon! And if you loved these make sure you try our salted milk chocolate homemade caramels too! They are Cade’s achilles heal.
Southern Mac N Cheese
There’s no denying that you all love the southern recipes that pop up on our site thanks to Cade. Or that you all looooove cheese. This Southern Mac N Cheese is our number two but if you’re wanting something more creamy and filling for a main dish try our Ham and Broccoli Mac N Cheese!
Potato Rolls
This is another recipe that was originally from years and years ago, but we reposted the recipe for the holidays and immediately it shot right up into our top recipes. Blew everything else out of the water and continues to get views every single day. We agree!! These are THE BEST ROLLS ever!
Brown Sugar Glazed Ham
We couldn’t believe that this ham recipe shot so quickly into one of our top posts of the year considering it was another that was just barely posted, but it’s gone crazy on social media. Thank you so much for the love and we hope you are loving the ham as much as we do. Put a pin in it for Easter because it’s going to be everyone’s favorite recipe again! And make sure you try our two favorite dipping sauces, Honey Mustard that turns any hater into a believer, and Pina Colada!
Citrus Green Chicken
Looking for something light, healthy but still craveable? This Citrus Greek Chicken is all of that and a bag of chips. Well, minus the chips. Either way, it’s one of my personal favorite recipes and I think it’s all thanks to that simple citrus pan sauce.
Slow Cooker Ranch Chex Mix
I so badly wanted a slow cooker recipe to pop up on here and this snack mix is definitely a good one! It’s super easy to make and feeds a whole lot of people. Plus, it stays fresh in a zipped back in the fridge for weeks!
Texas Roadhouse Copycat Loaded Sweet Potatoes
Well you’ve all done it. Cade is doing a happy little dance over here that the recipe he begged and begged for me to post about is in our top ten. If you’ve ever been to Texas Roadhouse you know that the loaded sweet potato with cinnamon butter, caramel sauce and marshmallows is pretty much to die for and now you can make it from home!
Greek Pasta Salad
Picking up on a little trend here… you all love your Greek dishes apparently! I need to get making more. I have yet to fall in love with Baklava but I can totally get behind making any Greek dinners! In fact, our Greek Souvlaki Chicken is one of the recipes we make on a monthly basis and that NEVER happens.
Coconut Chicken Curry
Ok, and apparently we are going to head to another country because Curry was one of our favorites as well! And if you even dare try to scroll past this one because you think you don’t like it, think again. Pin it, try it, and report back to me because the flavor is mild but flavorful and with a fresh pile of naan next to it I bet you’ll fall in love. Definitely try our Tikka Masala too. It’s vegetarian but you can use chicken instead.
Pineapple Crush Cake
Well you all are after my heart on this last one. As a little girl I thought Jell-o was the greatest creation ever and our Pineapple jell-o cake has totally won over your hearts as well. Don’t like pineapple? Don’t worry, we’ve got a strawberry and lemon jell-o cake too!
Julie Blanner
I’ll take all of the above, please! They all look so good, it’s no wonder they’ve done so well. I’ve added these to our “to make” list in 2017!
