They look so simple they must be easy to resist, but these Easter M&M Pretzel Hugs are so addicting you’ll want to love us and curse us at the same time.
Easter M&M Pretzel Hugs are such unsuspecting little devils. Years ago our friends brought some over with a sweet note expressing their love for our family. Not because we are anything special, but because they are and choose to make others feel of their love for them.
Cade and I had never had M&M pretzel hugs, but after our first bite something crazy happened, I wanted to send the kids to bed and hide in the closet with a good book to enjoy every last one, alone.
Don’t worry, I shared and Cade was grateful, haha. How is it that something so simple could be so good?
What are Pretzel Hugs
What are Easter Pretzel Hugs? Oh, let me tell you. It’s the easiest treat to make, even our two year old can do it. In fact, he did.
Pretzel hugs are merely pretzels, Hershey’s hugs candies and an M&M on top.
How to Make Pretzel Hugs with M&Ms
Our 2 year old was having the most grouchy day and as much as I adore him I was beyond exhausted. Boys are busy in a whole new way, but add on a bad attitude and it can really wear on you. I plopped him up on the counter and thought, chocolate will fix this.
And it did.
Because I’m a genius. All moms and dads are.
He unwrapped every hug and plopped it down on the pretzels. I was shocked he was doing such a good job and only 1/4 of them were ending up in his mouth. Which is pretty good.
Next, we turned the oven on very low and placed the entire cookie sheet of pretzels in the oven to melt the chocolate hugs. As soon as they looked shiny we pulled them out and pressed an M&M on top. Many more of those little ones ended up in his mouth, but by this point I was in such a hurry before the chocolate cooled I didn’t even care.
Poor kid had a really hard time being lifted off the counter and separated from the chocolate but it was necessary so they could cool and harden, man I love Easter M&M Pretzel Hugs!
Easter Pretzel Hugs
And that was it! We stored our Easter Pretzel Hugs in an airtight container and later wrapped them up to deliver them to different friends.
Actually, that’s not true. When all the kids were home I took our eldest with us and told her we were going to say a prayer, start to drive and stop at any house we felt inspired to stop at (all people we knew) and it ended up being a really special night for us as mother and daughter. If he hadn’t had a rough day I might not have bonded with our daughter in that way that night. Sure there would be other chances but I never want to be blind to the tender mercies of heaven.
Silpat Liners for Baking Sheets
Before you head off to make these Easter M&M Pretzel Hugs, can I just tell you what my two must have kitchen items are, and not just for this recipe, and you do need them for this recipe as the clean up and ease of pulling them off for storage will be better, but just in general. Our Baking Sheets and Silpat baking liners are the best purchase ever.
You don’t want to use dark baking pans as they cook differently than light colored baking pans. The dark surface will over cook almost every time whether or not you even realize it and it will only get worse with time.
Silpats will help you to have an even bake, wash quickly and make it so easy to pull things off of the pan. Bonus points, they are re-useable a gazillion times over so no more spending money on parchment paper.

I’m sure these were great! I used cookies n cream eggs and it totally didn’t work. They just crumbled instead of melted. I should have stuck with hugs.

Dang it! That is good to know actually. The chocolate must be just different enough. Sorry they didn’t turn out!

Easter Pretzel Hugs, would love to make but I have never heard of Hershey Hugs. Checked the grocery stores candy isles an can’t find?????????
Sweet Basil
Hi Linda! Have you tried Walmart? I’ve never had a problem finding them there. You can also grab them on Amazon. If all else fails, you can just use regular Hershey’s Kisses. Enjoy!

Is the oven temp in F or C? If C, what F would it be? Also, at the end of instructions it says cook completely. Should that be cool completely? I’d like to make these but need to get clarification of instructions. Thank you
Sweet Basil
It is Fahrenheit. And thank you for letting me know about the “cool” being spelled wrong. That has been corrected.

These are so cute and easy to make!! I’m making them with my boys tonight!! Thanks for sharing!!
Sweet Basil
Yay! I love that! Enjoy! And thank you!

Afraid the nutrition still looks incorrect! An entire Hershey Kiss hug has more calories, etc than this.
Sweet Basil
You are absolutely right! Thank you! I’m looking into it now.

Hmm, Did you make a mistake on the nutritional information? 11 calories per serving (5 pieces) seems low. The fish oil capsule I take has 10 calories…..just sayin.
Sweet Basil
Yikes, not sure where 5 came in but that was for 1. 🙂 Fixed it!
